Stabilizer Forging Manufacturing Method

Steel Grade: AISI 4145H MOD

 

1. Manufacturing method:

    Arc furnace steel making + ladle furnace refining + vacuum degassing

    Heat treatment:Q+T (quenched + tempered)

    Rough machining.

3. Mechanical Properties: In compliance with API 7K (centered 2’’ at room temperature)

Minimum tensile strength ≥ 140000PSI(965N/mm2)  

Minimum yield strength ≥115000PSI(793N/mm2)

Minimum elongation at 2’’ gage length ≥13%

Minimum charpy V-Notch impact ≥ 40 ft/lbs (54J)

Max. Surface Hardness: 341HB

Hardness at 1’’: 285-341HB


4. Cleanliness Requirement:

Cleanliness Requirement: ASTM E45 (JK)  A≤2.5;B≤2.0;C≤1.5;D≤2.0;

Grain Size: ASTME112, ≥5

 

5. Ultrasonic examination method:

Each bar or tube hall be inspected full length with 360°overlapping scans for surface-breaking defects. Either the angle-beam method (shear wave) or an offset straight-beam (to produce shear waves) immersion system may be used.  


6. Surface Condition:

Surface finish of Each bar or tube shall be examined after final heat treatment and machining. The full length of each bar or tube shall be inspected by either the dry powder or magnetic particle method. Surface imperfections are unacceptable. Maximum allowable defect and grinding depths-0.150’’ maximum depth. 


7. Marking:

To hard stencil each body with:

Heat number & bar number, size of forgings: Crown OD x Neck ODx Neck IDx total length
